The
Pinwheel Project is a non-profit
children’s charity providing free programs and services to
kids and their families during an inpatient or outpatient hospital
visit. We feel that it is essential to be there supporting both
kids and their loved ones while they cope with the stresses of medical
treatment. All of our programs are made available at no cost to
hospitals or patients. Since it’s inception in January of
2003, The Pinwheel Project has worked toward bringing some much-needed
normalcy to families whose lives have been suddenly disrupted by
injury or illness. One way we achieve this is through the Pinwheel
Carts Program. Our volunteers travel throughout a children’s
hospital with fully stocked and decorated carts bringing activities
and fun directly to every child’s room. By offering a fun
activity, a relaxing manicure or special toy, we attempt to make
the time away just a little easier. Special Programs such as "Jessica's
Closet" allow nurses to bring toys and smiles to kids even
when we can't be there. "Tell Me A Story" encourages our
patients to read and relax while developing a love of books. |
