The Pinwheel Project is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) children's charity whose mission is to ensure that no child or family ever feels isolated or alone during the ordeal of a pediatric hospital stay. We believe that by lifting spirits and providing much needed practical support, it creates an atmosphere that helps the healing process. Since it's inception in 2003, our goal has been to bring some much needed comfort and "normalcy" to families whose lives have been suddenly disrupted by injury or illness.

One way we achieve this goal is through our "Bedside Programs" featuring a fleet of Pinwheel Carts. These decorated and fully stocked carts allow our volunteers to visit every child's room offering free activites, snacks, manicures and most of all, companionship for kids and parents alike. For children unable to leave their room, these visits help keep them connected to the outside world.

We rely on our "Helping Hands" programs to keep children and families smiling and relaxed. "Jessica's Closet" holds new toys, art/craft supplies and books for the nursing staff and Child Life Specialist to distribute as a special gift to brave young patients who need a lift. Our "Meal Voucher" program provides a free meal for families in need while they stay with their child. Whether the "Just Press Play" cart is bringing a favorite DVD movie to a toddler or the "My Comfort Zone" program is fulfilling an entire wish list for a bone marrow transplant patient on total isolation, it's all about keeping kids and families optimistic about making a speedy and full recovery.
